PurpleStride 2013

This was our fourth year participating in the Pancreatic Cancer PurpleStride 5k.  All of the family came together for the weekend, even Angie flew in from Brooklyn to participate. On Saturday we got to the Albert Whitted Park bright and early to pick up our numbers and t-shirts. As we looked at the sky we saw huge dark clouds which didn't look too good. Suddenly, the skies opened and we all ran for cover under the tents. Nevertheless, the spirits of the Pan Can people are amazing because nobody left, everybody walked or ran despite the pouring rain. Although it dampened some of the scheduled activities, it didn't dampen the spirits of everyone there for this important cause. Our team raised $905, thank you so much to everyone who donated; it really means so much to have all of your support, thoughts, and prayers during this cancer fight.

The night before, cargo loading!

Posing with almost all of the grandkids, outside the Dali Museum

It starts to rain...

Then it pours!

PanCanners are the best,  running in the rain!

Finished the race!

Some of us didn't mind the rain.

Triple birthday celebration later that afternoon.

Good job Mimi's Milers!

Going the Distance with Mimi's Milers

Dear Family and Friends,

Mimi & Skyler before NanoKnife procedure #2
My six month follow-up CT scan in September showed the development of a new small tumor and we proceeded with the NanoKnife procedure on September 30th.  I continue to recover and it has not been as easy as I anticipated.  But, with God's help and the support of many I continue to make good progress and keep fighting to get back to normal.

Everything happened very fast and it shows the importance of regular checkups, in my case, every six months, now possibly every three.  There is no metastases so we are looking at a good outcome.  I'm scheduled for another CT scan in 3 months and will let you know the results.

This coming weekend Mimi's Milers, my team of 26, will participate in the Purple Stride 5k Run/Walk in the Tampa/St. Pete area to raise funds and awareness for the disease.  (Click here if you want to donate to our team!)  This will mark the fourth year of our participation.  Come back in a few weeks for an update and pictures.

My best to all,

Mimi (Boo)

Another Birthday, Another Year

The Birthday Queen
Greetings ~

My blog update has been long overdue.  So here I am, happy to report that my CT scan last month shows all is well, thanks be to God.  It has been three and a half years since the diagnosis.  My daily back pain is a small reminder and a small price to pay for a merciful and miraculous recovery.  Every day I learn new ways to manage it and I do all the things necessary to lessen it.  And it works!

April has been quite a month, full of activity:  I celebrated another birthday--another year of life.  I shared it with my daughter Monica and granddaughter Maria--we are all April 17 girls.  They came down to visit with many of the family so we had a very exciting and joyful weekend.  Planning to do it all over again next year, God willing.

Many thanks for your continued prayers.

Peace & Blessings ~ Mimi
