Going the Distance with Mimi's Milers

Dear Family and Friends,

Mimi & Skyler before NanoKnife procedure #2
My six month follow-up CT scan in September showed the development of a new small tumor and we proceeded with the NanoKnife procedure on September 30th.  I continue to recover and it has not been as easy as I anticipated.  But, with God's help and the support of many I continue to make good progress and keep fighting to get back to normal.

Everything happened very fast and it shows the importance of regular checkups, in my case, every six months, now possibly every three.  There is no metastases so we are looking at a good outcome.  I'm scheduled for another CT scan in 3 months and will let you know the results.

This coming weekend Mimi's Milers, my team of 26, will participate in the Purple Stride 5k Run/Walk in the Tampa/St. Pete area to raise funds and awareness for the disease.  (Click here if you want to donate to our team!)  This will mark the fourth year of our participation.  Come back in a few weeks for an update and pictures.

My best to all,

Mimi (Boo)

  1. Wow, I love this family. Mrs. Ungaro you are constantly in my heart and in my prayers. I feel so blessed to have spent so much time in your house and in your kitchen growing up. I am always telling my five kids about all the fun I had at the Ungaro house. Now that I live in another country, I often think of you. How you learned another language, raised 5 kids and always made us feel welcome in your home. Thank you for sharing your story, life and family with me over the years. You are loved more than you will ever know. Sarah Boswell Prewitt
